NELSON COUNTY – All Pain, No Gain today released the following statement on the letter
U.S. Rep. Robert Hurt (R-VA) sent to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission asking for
another scoping meeting in Nelson County before the deadline and an extension of the scoping
“We appreciate Congressman Hurt’s leadership on this issue and care in listening to his
constituents’ concerns.” said Phil Anderson, executive director of
All Pain, No Gain. “This is a step in the right direction towards a fair and open public comment period.”
In the letter, Rep. Hurt writes, “As you aware, my constituents in Nelson County, Virginia and
the surrounding areas have expressed a significant level of interest in the ACP proposal…. I
believe that the citizens who requested, but were not granted, time to comment verbally should
be afforded an opportunity to share their perspectives in a public forum if they so choose….
Therefore I request that you show every consideration in holding another scoping meeting in
Nelson County before the scoping period comes to a close. Please also consider adjusting the
duration of the scoping period as needed to facilitate such a meeting and adequately consider the
issues raised therein.”
